Our governance structures
JMSU is a democratically led charity. Decisions are made in a number of committees by students, officers and trustees.
Democratic committees involve students directly in decision making.
Governance committees are led by trustees and keep us legally and financially sound.

How decisions are made

Our democratic committees directly involve our student members, with the Student Members' Meeting as the highest body. Our governance committees, led by trustees, make sure the Union is legally and financially compliant, and lead on significant decisions about strategy and operations.

Referenda

If something needs a Union-wide decision, it can go to a student vote. These are called referenda.
