Thank you for your interest in working at JMSU.
We are passionate about supporting students through their university life and beyond into their future careers and our staff team are at the core of what we do. Collectively, we are committed to providing transformational opportunities that students can experience and benefit from. These range from facilitating student leaders, building communities and social networks and amplifying their voice.
We know that students need help, support, and guidance more than ever whilst facing a number of challenges through the Cost-of-Living crisis, balancing work and study, supporting physical and mental wellbeing whilst seeking meaningful graduate employment and we are committed in helping them navigate their student journey.
We are proud of our colleagues and proud of our students. Our students have a long track record in championing issues that really matter to them, their fellow students, the city of Liverpool and society at large.
JMSU has undergone a period of change renewed partnership with the University, a new home in the Student Life Building, an increasing resource base and a growing staff team with a focus on staff development and staff experience. We believe our focus is working with 91% of staff saying they would recommend the organisation citing our focus on wellbeing, work life balance and team culture as particular highlights.

Taking action on inclusion

What must I do to take part in the scheme?
To secure an interview you must meet the essential minimum criteria for the role as outlined in the job description. Please take time to evidence this in your application form, giving examples where possible. Clearly outline how you can achieve any gaps within a realistic timeframe.
To be considered under this scheme you must select the relevant tick box in section 1 (Personal Details) of the application form. By doing this you are giving consent for us to disclose that you are from an ethnically diverse background, if necessary. Please note this information (Section 1) will still be removed prior to the initialscreening process, however schould the panel agree that you meet the essential criteria, you will then be guaranteed an interview and the information may be shared with the panel to enable this.
If you do not select this box and provide consent, we will be unable to guarantee you an interview even if your application demonstrates you met the essential criteria. Your application will be considered alongside all other applications. The final selection decision following the interview will be based on the most suitable candidate for the role regardless of background or protected characteristics.
