Manifesto in Full

My priority as President is to ensure every student at LJMU feels supported, heard, and able to succeed, regardless of their background or circumstances.

University life comes with growing pressures and hidden costs that are not always clear when students enrol, from travel and course materials to digital access and accommodation-related expenses. I will work to highlight these hidden costs, challenge them at the senior level, and ensure that support reaches students living in halls, private accommodation, or commuting from home.

Academic pressure and well-being are closely linked. Students regularly raise concerns about assessment stress, workload, and not knowing what support or academic rights they are entitled to. As President, I will represent these concerns, improve awareness of extensions, referrals, and available support, and reduce the stigma around asking for help. My focus is on fair, accessible systems that support students during high-pressure periods, not micromanaging individual courses.

Clear communication and access to learning are essential for a positive student experience. Late timetables, cancelled sessions, and poor communication make it harder for students to plan work, caring responsibilities, and their well-being. I will push for clearer communication, earlier information wherever possible, improved access to learning through lecture recordings, and better digital support.

Most importantly, I will strengthen the student voice that leads to visible action. I am committed to working with students, officers, and the University to build trust, improve transparency, and create a student experience where no one feels left behind. Together, we can unite students and the SU.
