The Brain Charity offers emotional support, practical help and social activities to anyone with a neurological condition and to their family, friends, and carers. There are hundreds of different neurological conditions, including stroke, brain injury, dementia, cluster headaches, and many rarer ones too - we are here for every single one.
Our mission is to enable all those affected by neurological conditions to live longer, healthier, happier lives. We will fight together for an inclusive and just society: a world where stigma, hardship and isolation are replaced by compassion and understanding. Being diagnosed with a neurological condition can be a frightening and bewildering experience; many people face unemployment, poverty and social isolation as a result.
Based in Liverpool city centre, we offer a range of services within Merseyside & Cheshire including, but not limited to: counselling, welfare benefits advice, adult learning courses, confidence building courses, support groups for different conditions, employment support, carers advocacy, a legal service and supported volunteering opportunities. We also offer a national information & advice service which includes a library open to the public and a national helpline.
As a Gym Volunteer, you’ll support the maintenance of gym activity records and assist with administrative tasks such as managing registers and records. You’ll help clients use exercise equipment safely, lead or support small group sessions and gym activities, and carry out basic maintenance tasks. Your role also includes motivating clients toward their fitness goals, arranging gym inductions, and sending reminders for weekly Neuro Physio appointments.
We would not be able to provide our services without the support of amazing people like you who offer their time to The Brain Charity. We would love for our volunteers to be able to attend at least 1 day per week for 4-7 hours per day although we know this may not always be possible.
We would like the Gym Volunteer to hold a Level 2 or higher qualification in personal training, fitness coaching, or relevant exercise qualification.
Note:
A full gym tour / demonstration of all current gym equipment will be conducted by our Gym Supervisor.
All volunteers are required to have an Enhanced DBS certificate. The Brain charity will arange any sucsessful volunteers to have a DBS.
Travel expenses reimbursed. Full role specific training and access to further training opportunities. 2 annual volunteer celebration events, opportunities to be involved in volunteer meetings, opportunities to represent the charity at external and internal events.
