No-one should be discouraged from participating in sport.
InclusActivity aims to identify and break down barriers to participation in sports activities in a bid to help increase in the number of students who join a sports group at university.
- Focus groups looked at barriers for students who are disabled, women, LGBTQA+, BAME, Mature and Postgrad. Key takeaway messages included drinking culture, socioeconomic status, and celebrating cultures through experiences and EDI training. This includes creating inclusion toolkits for sports committees, and EDI training for committee members which focusses on being an ally and celebrating different cultures.
- The Deaf Awareness Society led British Sign Language sessions for sports teams to highlight hidden disabilities and barriers deaf students may face when attending sports sessions.
- An LGBTQA+ Ally workshop educated sports teams on how to be a better ally to LGBTQA+ students.
- InclusActivity Pledge: Encouraging all sports teams to sign the pledge based on the Sports Centre wall and make a commitment to being accepting and encouraging of all students who wish to take part in sport.
- Promote the inclusion fund which offers additional funding to purchase equipment or travel to competition for students with accessibility arrangement needs or those in financial hardship.

- A club wanting to run unconscious bias training to enhance their diversity and understanding for engagement.
- A club hiring a sign language expert to be more inclusive of students with hearing difficulties at guest speaker events.
- Running EDI training for committee members to focus on being an ally and celebrating and supporting different cultures.
