The Migrant Justice Society is a student-led community dedicated to advocating for the rights, dignity, and wellbeing of migrants and displaced people. We aim to raise awareness, foster informed discussion, and promote solidarity on campus and beyond.
Our society creates a platform for students to engage with issues surrounding migration, asylum, labour rights, borders, and social justice through education and action. We host panel discussions, film screenings, awareness campaigns, fundraisers, and collaborative events with local organisations and other societies. By centring lived experiences and evidence-based dialogue, we seek to challenge misinformation, amplify marginalised voices, and encourage meaningful advocacy.
Membership is open to all students who are interested in social justice, human rights, and migration issues. We run events throughout the academic year with support from the Student Union and small membership contributions, alongside fundraising initiatives for migrant support organisations. Activities range from educational workshops and policy discussions to volunteering opportunities and creative awareness campaigns. Updates are shared through social media and mailing lists to keep members informed and involved.
Joining the Migrant Justice Society provides the opportunity to deepen your understanding of migration issues, develop advocacy and leadership skills, and contribute to positive change in your community. Whether you want to learn more, support campaigns, or stand in solidarity with migrant communities, the society offers a welcoming and action-oriented space to get involved and make an impact.
Each society is led by a student committee responsible for running the society, organising activities, and representing its members. The committee is chaired by the Society President, with support from other elected roles.
