JMSU surveyed students in Induction Week to identify their top three Cost of Living priorities for this year, which were determined as Transport, Accommodation, and Food.

Your Student Officers have been working hard, alongside JMSU and LJMU to help students with the Cost of Living. We have recently received funding to start the JMSU Community Kitchen initiative, to aim to help to create a home from home feeling for students and to help with rising Cost of Living prices when it comes to buying food.

We are proud to announce the JMSU Kitchens will be launched this week at JMSU social zones across campus.

There will be options available for students to have refreshments such as tea or coffee, as well as food such as soup. This will help eliviate any anxieties students may be facing when in and around campus, and need support with keeping costs of food at zero. Each Social Zone kitchen is located at:

  • Byrom Street
  • John Foster
  • SLB – JMSU Reception
  • Redmonds
  • Tithebarn
  • JLAD

This campaign is here to stay and the food will be replenished regularly. Please leave us any feedback you can about the initiative so we can continue to work towards helping and supporting students as much as we can.

If you would like to learn more about the ways in which both LJMU and JMSU are working towards tackling the Cost of Living for students, you can visit our web page or the University's Cost of Living Hub.
