We are currently recruiting committed and enthusiastic volunteers to support groups of primary or secondary students at our learning centres in Anfield and Kirkby

What is Academic Support?
Our after-school Academic Support programme provides free tutoring and support to young people from disadvantaged backgrounds in a stimulating classroom environment. Young people receive tailored help with homework, coursework, revision and study skills from a team of dedicated staff and volunteers.

What does it involve?

• Attending a training and selection session
• Submitting references and undergoing an Enhanced DBS check
• Volunteering once a week at IntoUniversity North Liverpool or IntoUniversity Kirkby. Most sessions run for 2 hours and begin between 15:15 and 16:00
• Supporting either Primary or Secondary sessions, helping students with their homework or supporting the running of our own degree-focused curriculum workshops
• Being a role model to our students and encouraging their learning

• A commitment to one term of volunteering
• A minimum of Grade C at GCSE in English and Maths

When will you be volunteering?

Academic Support Tutors can volunteer at the following times with students of different ages:

• Primary (age 7-11) - Tuesdays or Wednesdays, 15:15 - 17:15
• Secondary (age 11-18) - Mondays or Thursdays, 15:45 - 17:45

Academic Support runs during school term times only. However, volunteers can also choose to volunteer at our programmes during school holidays, which include revision sessions and themed multi-day programmes. 

Where are we?

We have two centres across Merseyside - IntoUniversity North Liverpool in Anfield, and IntoUniversity Kirkby in Kirkby town centre.
