After reclaiming the streets in 2024, Reclaim the Night returns — stronger, louder, and united for 2025. In collaboration with JMSU, Liverpool Guild of Students, and Liverpool Hope SU, this is more than a march — it’s a movement.
We stand with women and girls, and with all those affected by gender-based violence. Together, we challenge victim-blaming cultures, call for accountability, and demand that safety is a right, not a privilege.
Our campaign shines a light on the ongoing fight for safety, visibility, and justice across our city. Because everyone deserves to feel secure, included, and respected — wherever they are.
Join us. Reclaim our streets. Reclaim our nights. Reclaim our rights.
Reclaim the Night is a movement that empowers people to take a stand against sexual violence, street harassment, and gender-based abuse. It’s a night
Since the 1970s, Reclaim The Night has been a powerful grassroots campaign fighting for women’s safety, equality, and the right to walk freely without fear of violence. Originally sparked in the UK by the Yorkshire Ripper murders and widespread harassment, the movement gave women a unified voice to demand safer streets and greater protection under the law.
Today, Reclaim The Night marches are held across cities as a bold stand against gender-based violence and discrimination.
Join us before the march for talks, workshops, and community building.

Start: St Luke’s Bombed Out Church, Leece St
End: Derby Square, Liverpool
Route: Bold St → Church St → Lord St → Derby Square
Join us as we march through Liverpool city centre to reclaim our streets, amplify women’s voices, and demand safety for all women and marginalised genders. Together, we walk for change.
Join the MarchReclaim the Night Liverpool believes that all women and girls should be safe. We stand for a world where every person can walk the streets and access spaces without fear.
We are clear about our values and ask that everyone attending the march does so in a spirit of openness and inclusivity. We march with and for all women — including trans women, non-binary and gender non-conforming people who have faced similar forms of misogyny or discrimination.
We stand firmly against the victim-blaming of women who experience sexual assault, rape, violence or harassment. Responsibility lies solely with the perpetrators — never the survivors.
We march to reclaim our streets and take back our spaces, asserting that women have the right to move freely and safely, day or night.
A mass of women walking the streets together sends a powerful message to our leaders — that citizens, residents and voters care deeply about women’s safety and demand action.
We gather to share knowledge, strengthen networks and grow solidarity between all women. Together, we create the foundations for lasting change.
We’re coming together to call for an end to sexual violence and to build a Liverpool where all women and marginalised genders can feel safe and empowered.
Volunteer as a steward, host a Reclaim or EVAWG-themed event with your society or sports club, and help shape a safer city for everyone. Together, we’re pushing for better night-bus routes, affordable late-night transport, and visible “Safe Space” points across the city centre.
The event will be photographed and filmed, and content will be used to promote the campaign and future marches.
If you prefer that your image or video not be used, please email sumarketing@ljmu.ac.uk with your request and include a photo of yourself for identification purposes.

At both the start and end of the march, you will hear speeches from various speakers. Please be aware that some topics may be distressing for certain individuals. Content warnings for sexual assault, misogyny, transphobia, and racism will be in place.
A transcript of the speeches will soon be available for download on this webpage.
