The Women’s Empowerment Society is a student group dedicated to supporting, celebrating, and amplifying women’s voices. We provide a safe and inclusive space for members to connect, share experiences, and lead change both on campus and in the wider community.

About Us

We bring together students of all genders who believe in gender equality, intersectional feminism, and social justice. Through workshops, speaker events, mentoring programmes, discussion circles, campaigns, and partnerships with local NGOs, we strive to raise awareness, build confidence, and enable meaningful action on issues affecting women.

Key Information

Membership is open to all students who support the society’s values, irrespective of gender or background. We host regular events across the academic year, funded by the Student Union and supplemented by fundraising where necessary. The society is run democratically via elected roles; transparent financial practices are in place; and we communicate through email, social media, and campus events to keep everyone informed and involved.

Why Us?

Joining the Women’s Empowerment Society offers the chance to grow personally and professionally—developing leadership, public speaking, advocacy and organisational skills; to be part of a community committed to gender equity; to engage with inspiring speakers; and to help bring about change through outreach, education and activism in areas like gender-based violence, representation, mental health and policy.

Committee

Each society is led by a student committee responsible for running the society, organising activities, and representing its members. The committee is chaired by the Society President, with support from other elected roles.
