About Our Group

Volleyball is a team sport in which two teams of six players are separated by a net. Each team tries to score points by grounding a ball on the other team's court under organized rules.

LJMU Volleyball Club is growing by the year with a great increase in new numbers annually! Our training sessions cater to a wide range of abilities, whether it is your first time playing volleyball or you’re a pro, all abilities are welcome!

 We currently have three teams entered in the British University and Colleges Sport League (BUCS), Men’s: Northern 1A and 2A and Women’s: Northern 3A, where we compete throughout the year on Wednesdays. Our Men’s B team and Women’s teams also take part in the Merseyside Volleyball League (MVL) Division I. 

The social side of the club is fantastic, with regular social events happening in clubs and bars around Liverpool and other activities such as ghetto golf, trampoline park, and trips to the beach. During the summer we also take part in several outdoor tournaments. We promote a family atmosphere here at LJMU Volleyball and our social/team bonding events are great for continuing this outside of training

Key Information (When, Where, and How Often We Meet)

We train on Tuesday mornings 7:15-8:45 aswell as Tuesday evenings from 6:00pm-9pm, where the men and women sessions will be split 90 mins each, and on Sunday mornings from 12am-3pm, this is a mixed men's and women's session where we train and play some home games.

All of our training sessions will take place at the LJMU Sports Centre next to the Student life building.

We will also be holding a few taster sessions at the beginning of semester 1 to give a real flavor of what we do for the rest of the year! Why Should You Join Us?

LJMU Volleyball is a great place to meet new people, make friends, and have a lot of FUN! We all become one big family and friends for life! We hold weekly socials every Wednesday which is a great time to get to know all of the members. At the end of the year, we take part in Varsity, which lasts for a week, where we go head to head against the University of Liverpool! At the end of this, all the sports teams and societies get together for a formal meal/presentation followed by a massive social event where we celebrate all our fantastic achievements. We also hold our own Christmas meal and awards night which are both great ways to celebrate our achievements as a club!
