The Spanish Society is a vibrant cultural and language hub for students who want to explore
the Spanish-speaking world — socially, linguistically, and culturally. Whether you're fluent, a beginner, or just curious, we create inclusive spaces where everyone can connect and grow.
The LJMU Spanish Society is a dynamic and inclusive group designed for anyone with an interest in the Spanish language and Spanish-speaking cultures. From passionate beginners to fluent speakers, and from cultural enthusiasts to native Spanish speakers wanting to connect with home — this is a community where everyone belongs.
Throughout the academic year, we’ll be hosting an exciting calendar of events, including social nights, cultural activities, themed meals, salsa dancing, bar crawls, and theatre visits, all infused with Spanish and Latin American energy. We're committed to making our spaces as diverse and welcoming as possible — from casual non-alcoholic hangouts to lively fiestas.
We’re also introducing weekly Spanish lessons — completely free — open to all members, helping you grow your language skills with confidence. These sessions are perfect if you're preparing for our highlight event of the year: a spring trip to Barcelona! Whether you're here to practise your Spanish, discover new cultures, or meet incredible people, we promise there’s something for everyone.
The society meets at least once a week, with a variety of sessions including social events, language classes, and informal member catch-ups. Spanish lessons will take place in the Student Life Building, with room details and times shared on our WhatsApp group and Instagram. We maintain a flexible and consistent schedule to keep our community connected — whether you join us regularly or pop in when you can.

Each society is led by a student committee responsible for running the society, organising activities, and representing its members. The committee is chaired by the Society President, with support from other elected roles.
