Running is a simple yet powerful way to improve fitness, clear your mind, and connect with
the world around you. Whether you’re sprinting, jogging, or pacing yourself for a marathon, running challenges your endurance, builds strength, and boosts your mental resilience. It’s a sport that welcomes all levels and offers endless opportunities for personal achievement and enjoyment.
Our Running Club welcomes everyone — from complete beginners taking their first steps to seasoned marathoners chasing new personal bests. We organise regular group runs, training plans, and social events designed to help you improve safely and stay motivated. More than just exercise, we’re a supportive community that shares the joy of running and celebrates every mile together. Lace up your shoes — it’s more than running, it’s a lifestyle.

LJMU Running Club is a free, inclusive running group launched in January 2024 and open to all students across Liverpool—not just those at John Moores. Our aim is simple: to create a space where students can improve their physical, mental, and social wellbeing through running in a relaxed and welcoming environment. Whether you’re an experienced runner or just lacing up for the first time, there’s a place for you here. We offer different types of runs each week to suit all abilities and paces, and you’ll always find friendly faces ready to support you along the way.
We run every Tuesday evening at 7pm, meeting at the Student Life Building on Brownlow Hill. All runs are completely free to join and cater to a range of abilities and distances. Additional run sessions and variations in structure are announced via our Instagram page, so make sure to check there regularly.
Running can be one of the most powerful tools for improving mental, physical, and social health. At LJMU Running Club, we believe in the power of movement to clear the mind and reset the day. Whether you're looking for a break from uni stress, a new hobby, or a way to meet like-minded people, this club gives you the chance to just get away from it all. Come along for the escape, the community, and the positive energy—we can't wait to run with you!
Each sports club is led by a student committee responsible for running the club, organising activities, and representing members. The committee is chaired by the Club Captain, with support from other elected roles.
