About Our Group

Rugby League is a fast-paced, physical, high-intensity team game. Teams of 13 players and 4 substitutes compete against each other passing, kicking, and tackling for over 80 minutes in an attempt to outscore your opponents.

 

Liverpool John Moores rugby league team are one of the top-performing student rugby league teams in the country over the last few years. This upcoming year we will play our rugby in Premier North Division, which is the best league to compete in. As it stands we are the only sports team that competes in a Premier Division in the whole university. On and off the field, LJMURL are a very close group, but the team also holds regular social events away from training where you can get to know the players and make the most of your university experience.

Past achievements:

2017/18 season - National Trophy competition winners.

2018/19 season - Northern Conference Cup winners.

2019 - JMSU BUCS achievement of the year. 

2019/20 season = Unbeaten Northern 1A league and Northern Conference Cup winners.

2020 - JMSU BUCS Team of the year.

2017/18/19/21 season(s) - Varsity winners

2021/22 season - Promotion to Premier North Division.

2021 - JMSU Varsity Team of the year.

2022/23 - 4th place in the Premier North Division & National cup quarter finalists

2023/24- 4th Place in the Premier North Division

Key Information (When, Where, and How Often We Meet)

Training = Mondays 7-9pm @ Leisure United Simpson and Tuesdays 6-7pm @ North Liverpool Academy.

Match days = Wednesday Afternoons, home games played at Thatto Heath Crusaders.

Socials = Wednesday evenings.

Strength and conditioning = Monday evenings and Friday afternoons at the CETL building (Primrose Hill).
