The Rhythm Arcade Society is a vibrant community built around the shared love of
rhythm-based and arcade gaming. It’s a place where passion meets play, and gamers of all backgrounds and skill levels come together to enjoy, compete, and explore the dynamic world of arcade and rhythm games.
We are a dedicated group of arcade and rhythm game enthusiasts who strive to create a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere where players can enjoy friendly competition and discover new games and styles. Our focus centers on rhythm arcade games — those electrifying titles that combine music, precision, and quick reflexes — but we also embrace players of rhythm games on any platform, as well as arcade games from other genres.
Our society is a space where beginners and experts alike can feel comfortable learning, improving, and sharing their passion. Whether you’ve mastered games like Dancerush and Chunithm or you’re just curious to try Project Diva or Groove Coaster for the first time, you’ll find a community eager to support and play alongside you.
Our love for the arcade experience also means we encourage exploring the culture, history, and excitement of arcade gaming itself, making every meetup a chance to connect over shared interests and celebrate this unique form of entertainment.
We aim to meet weekly on Wednesdays, alternating between the Student Life Building (SLB) and the popular local arcade, ArCains, which offers a student discount of £10 instead of it's usual £25 entry fee. As we don’t currently have a fixed room for socials, members are encouraged to stay up-to-date by following our social media channels or joining our Discord server, where announcements and event details are regularly posted.
The variety of locations gives members the chance to enjoy both casual hangouts and high-energy arcade sessions, with flexible options that suit different preferences and schedules.
If you enjoy arcade gaming or rhythm games — whether that’s the pulse-pounding beats of Dancerush, the immersive challenges of maimai, the dazzling displays of Sound Voltex, or even newer hits like Project Sekai — our society is the perfect home for you. Joining is completely free and open to all skill levels.
Beyond just playing games, you’ll meet like-minded individuals who share your enthusiasm, discover new titles you might never have tried, and engage in friendly competitions that make gaming even more exciting. It’s a chance to grow your skills, find teammates and rivals, and be part of a community that values fun, respect, and connection.
If you’re passionate about rhythm and arcade gaming, or simply curious to try something different, the Rhythm Arcade Society welcomes you to press start and join the fun!
Each society is led by a student committee responsible for running the society, organising activities, and representing its members. The committee is chaired by the Society President, with support from other elected roles.
