The Psychology Society at LJMU is a vibrant, inclusive community designed for all students

who share an interest in psychology — whether you’re studying it formally or simply curious about the human mind. Beyond academics, it’s a space where personal growth, social connections, and well-being come together through diverse activities, from relaxed self-care nights to engaging guest talks and lively socials.

About Us

Our Psychology Society is open to all LJMU students, regardless of your degree or background. We understand that psychology touches many areas of life and study, and our goal is to foster a welcoming environment where you can meet like-minded peers, explore new ideas, and enrich your university journey.

Throughout the year, we offer a dynamic mix of events ranging from informative revision sessions and networking opportunities with guest speakers from mental health charities, to fun social activities like movie nights, charity fundraisers, and group nights out. We believe that supporting each other both academically and personally creates a balanced, fulfilling experience.

At the heart of the society is community spirit — we encourage you to share your passion, ask questions, and build friendships that extend beyond the classroom. Our annual formal Ball is a highlight, offering a chance to celebrate achievements and create lasting memories in a special setting.

Key Information

You can keep up to date with all our upcoming events and activities by following our Instagram page, where we post details about everything from group revision sessions to charity events, social nights, and themed meals. Your membership fee contributes towards these activities and helps fund the end-of-year Ball, ensuring you get access to a variety of prepaid events designed to enhance your experience.

We host at least two socials every month, alongside academic support sessions, creating a balanced calendar that caters to both your studies and social life.

Why Us?

Whether you are pursuing psychology academically or simply have a curiosity for the subject, joining our society places you in a supportive network of students who share your interests. Our revision sessions provide a collaborative space to prepare and excel academically, while our social events offer opportunities to relax, make new friends, and decompress from the pressures of university life.

We pride ourselves on maintaining a safe, friendly, and non-judgmental environment where all students feel welcome — no matter their course or background. Joining the Psychology Society is more than just being part of a club; it’s about belonging to a community that supports your personal growth and university experience holistically.

Committee

Each society is led by a student committee responsible for running the society, organising activities, and representing its members. The committee is chaired by the Society President, with support from other elected roles.
