Pro-Choice Society is a student-led community committed to supporting bodily autonomy and reproductive rights, while fostering education, awareness, and empathy around pregnancy and reproductive health issues. We create a welcoming, stigma-free environment where students can share experiences, gain knowledge, and advocate for choice together.
Our society was founded to raise awareness about reproductive rights and to provide meaningful support to students who may face complex or difficult pregnancy-related situations during their time at university. We understand that the right to make decisions about one’s own body is fundamental, and we aim to empower our members to stand for this principle.
Joining our society means more than just advocacy—it’s about building a compassionate community where no one feels isolated or judged for their choices. We welcome all who support pro-choice values and want to connect with like-minded individuals, expand their understanding of reproductive health, and develop skills through activism, discussions, and social events.
Beyond emotional support, we also focus on combating stigma and misinformation, offering practical advice and resources for students who might become pregnant, and challenging societal taboos around reproductive health decisions.
We meet weekly at times and locations that best suit our members, whether that’s in the Student Life Building or a cozy local café. Meeting details are always decided together, promoting a flexible and inclusive environment where everyone’s voice is heard.
Our gatherings combine educational sessions, open discussions, social catch-ups, and planning for advocacy activities, ensuring a well-rounded experience that balances learning, community, and fun. Follow our social media and messaging channels for event announcements and updates.
Joining Pro-Choice Society means becoming part of a supportive network focused on empowerment and education around reproductive rights. You will have opportunities to engage in campaigns, fundraising, and awareness initiatives that defend reproductive freedom and challenge unjust policies locally and beyond. The society provides a stigma-free space for students facing pregnancy, offering companionship and guidance during difficult times. Members gain access to vital information on reproductive health, legal rights, and healthcare options, empowering them to make informed decisions. By joining, you will meet people who share your values and beliefs, build meaningful friendships, and expand your social network within and beyond university. You can also take part in discussions, guest speaker events, and activism that enrich your university experience and prepare you for future leadership roles. Finally, you will enjoy social events, workshops, and outings designed to balance serious advocacy with fun and connection, making your time at university fulfilling and well-rounded. Together, we aim to break down stigma, provide vital support, and champion the right to choose with respect, dignity, and solidarity.
Each society is led by a student committee responsible for running the society, organising activities, and representing its members. The committee is chaired by the Society President, with support from other elected roles.
