About Our Group |
Liverpool is a hub for the sport of powerlifting, with multiple clubs and coaches throughout the city. We aim to introduce students to the sport, and to the idea of heavy barbell training in general, whilst also offering access to a dedicated strength and conditioning facility with experienced training partners for anyone already familiar with the sport. Our current team is composed of men and women with a variety of experience, from beginners who have never competed to lifters who have competed Nationally and Internationally. So whatever your experience or goals, whether you just want to train and get stronger or you want to step on the platform and compete, there's a place for you at LJMU Powerlifting. Our varsity event with the University of Liverpool usually takes place at the start of next year and we encourage everyone to compete in it. Upon joining the club you'll have access to a free 4-week training program which is aimed at getting you started in powerlifting. We also have experienced powerlifters who are willing to help and point you in the right direction if you are looking to compete. |
Key Information |
Meeting Dates & Times: We train on Wednesdays from 1-3pm in Studio 2 in the LJMU Sports Building! Our Club Captain will guide you through the session, focusing on one of the lifts and helping you to perfect your technique and answer any questions you might have. This session is perfect for beginner lifters to get started in powerlifting, but we encourage everyone to come along and socialise. More experienced lifters may find the equipment is limited so we recommend joining the LJMU gym to get the most out of this session. A new addition to our weekly training calendar this year are smaller group sessions at a local powerlifting gym, Power and Fitness. These are designed for more experienced lifters to be able to train with other powerlifters on competition standard equipment. They will take place multiple times a week and further details will be posted in our group chat! Finally make sure you follow our Instagram @ljmupowerlifting for updates regarding training, socials and so we can add you to our group chat! |
