The LJMU Policing Society is a vibrant and inclusive student community that brings together individuals passionate about policing, law enforcement, criminal justice, and related public service careers. Our society offers a platform where members can deepen their understanding of policing, gain hands-on experiences, and build friendships through a diverse range of educational and social activities throughout the academic year.
We are a dedicated society at LJMU created for students who have an interest in policing and the many career paths connected to law enforcement and criminal justice. Whether you are already studying a related degree, considering a future in policing, or simply fascinated by the field, our society welcomes you with open arms. Over the course of the year, we organize a wide variety of events designed to both educate and entertain. From practical experiences like crime scene investigation workshops to interactive murder mystery nights, our events give you the chance to develop your knowledge and skills in an engaging environment. Beyond the educational aspect, our socials are a key feature of the society—they provide the perfect opportunity to relax, have fun, and connect with fellow members who share your passion. We foster a supportive, friendly atmosphere where students from all years and backgrounds can feel included and inspired.
Our society meets regularly throughout the academic year for a mixture of events and socials, with details communicated through our social media channels and group communications. Membership costs just £3 per year, which grants you access to all our events—whether they are educational workshops, social evenings, or exciting trips. Events have been hosted both on and off campus, ensuring a dynamic experience that balances learning with social engagement. From hands-on crime scene experiences to themed social nights, there is always something happening to enhance your university life. Keep an eye out for announcements regarding upcoming activities, and don’t hesitate to get involved with planning and suggesting new ideas.
Joining the LJMU Policing Society is a fantastic way to immerse yourself in a community of like-minded peers who share your enthusiasm for policing and public service. Whether your goal is to pursue a career in forensics, law enforcement, or other related fields, this society offers valuable networking opportunities and practical insights that can support your ambitions. It’s also a welcoming space to make new friends from across different courses and years, fostering connections that often last beyond university. The combination of educational experiences and relaxed socials makes the society a well-rounded and enjoyable part of student life. You’ll gain unique experiences that enrich your academic knowledge, build your confidence, and provide fun memories along the way. No matter your background or level of experience, you’ll find a supportive environment that encourages growth, curiosity, and friendship.
Each society is led by a student committee responsible for running the society, organising activities, and representing its members. The committee is chaired by the Society President, with support from other elected roles.
