Pole Fitness is a powerful and empowering form of exercise that blends strength, flexibility, and dance into one dynamic workout. It’s a full-body fitness discipline that builds core strength, tones muscles, and boosts confidence — all while letting you express yourself creatively. Whether you're aiming to improve your fitness, master new tricks, or simply try something new, Pole Fitness offers a unique and rewarding experience.

Our Pole Fitness community welcomes all levels — from absolute beginners to advanced performers. We offer structured classes, supportive instructors, and a safe, inclusive space to help you progress at your own pace. More than just a workout, our studio is a place to feel strong, inspired, and part of something uplifting. Step up to the pole — it’s more than fitness, it’s a journey of self-discovery.

About Us

Whether you want to gain confidence, feel great about yourself, make new friends, or simply have fun, pole fitness could be the perfect society for you. It is one of the most effective and enjoyable forms of dance, offering a fantastic workout that burns calories while toning and strengthening muscles all over your body. What makes pole fitness unique is that during sessions, you rarely feel like you’re exercising—it’s just pure fun and movement. Our society is fully inclusive, welcoming members of all skill levels, from complete beginners to those with extensive pole experience. We run structured courses designed to teach you fundamental pole moves safely and progressively, as well as weekly drop-in sessions where you can practice, improve, and connect with others across all abilities. Our classes currently run at two levels—beginner and intermediate—and you’re free to choose whichever suits you best. Beyond the training, we organise a variety of themed socials and exciting pole-related trips, such as competitions and conventions, to deepen your experience and build a strong community.

Key Information

Our standard membership gives you full access to all socials and weekly drop-in sessions throughout the academic year. Drop-in sessions take place every Friday at 8:45 pm in the LJMU Sports Building, located next to the Student Life Building on Copperas Hill. These sessions are self-led but supported by committee members who are always on hand if you need guidance or assistance. Many members use this time to practice moves learned in courses or develop their own routines. For those new to pole fitness, we offer an 8-week pole course during Semester 1, led by professional instructors who teach safe and effective techniques. Intermediate courses are also available for returning members looking to refine their skills. Please note, spaces for the course are very limited and tend to fill up quickly. If you miss out in Semester 1, there will be another opportunity to enrol in Semester 2.

Why Us?

Joining the pole fitness society is more than just about exercise—it’s about building confidence, making lifelong friendships, and having a blast while doing it. Our welcoming environment supports everyone’s individual goals and progress, no matter your experience. The combination of fun, fitness, and friendship makes this society a standout choice for anyone looking to enrich their university life. Plus, with a range of socials and special events, you’ll have countless opportunities to connect with like-minded people and explore the dynamic world of pole fitness beyond the studio. If you’re ready to challenge yourself, try something new, and be part of a vibrant community, this society is the perfect place to start.
