Why to join the English Literature Society!
The English Literature Society is a chance to connect with others that share a love for reading and anything book related. We love to hold events that enable our members to have fun and engage with Literature at the same time. Some of the events we have held this past year include theatre trips to see Woman in Black and Frankenstein at the Everyman Theatre, a pub quiz which we held at The Fly and the Loaf and some drinks nights at the pubs and bars throughout Liverpool. Throughout the summer we held a Summer Book club where we asked our members to send in books that they had been reading over the summer and we got an amazing response and we hope to carry this on throughout the year.
We are still new to this and have some really exciting plans for the coming year! Of course we have had to adapt due to the current situation but we are determined to fill this year with as many events and opportunities as we can. Some of the events we have planned are some talks with guest speakers, bingo and quiz nights, fundraisers, theatre trips (if it becomes safe enough), themed events for Halloween and Christmas and we are going to be celebrating Black History Month throughout the month of October.

As we said, this is a new experience for us and we are doing our best to make the most of the situation and we have an amazing, fun filled year ahead of us!
