The LJMU Korean Society is a dynamic and welcoming community dedicated to promoting Korean culture, language, and traditions on campus. Beyond language learning, we provide a space for cultural immersion, social connection, and fun activities that celebrate all aspects of Korea. Whether you’re curious about Korean history, music, cuisine, or sports, our society is here to bring those interests to life in a friendly, inclusive environment.
Welcome to the LJMU Korean Society! We are a passionate and diverse group united by a shared love for Korean culture, language, and traditions. Our society warmly welcomes everyone—from native Korean speakers and heritage learners to those taking their first steps in understanding the language and culture. At the heart of our community is the Language Exchange program, where Korean and English speakers come together to practice, learn, and improve their communication skills in an interactive and supportive setting. Beyond language, we offer a variety of activities designed to deepen cultural understanding and build friendships, including cultural workshops, traditional celebrations, and even a Korean football team that brings members together through sport. We strive to create an environment where members feel comfortable, engaged, and connected.
We meet every second and fourth Wednesday of the month at 6 pm in the LJMU Student Life Building (SLB). The exact room location may change depending on bookings, so we recommend checking our Instagram regularly for the latest updates and announcements. In addition to our bi-monthly meetings, we organise special events throughout the semester such as cultural festivals, movie nights, and immersive workshops that highlight different facets of Korean culture. Our schedule is designed to balance language learning with fun and social opportunities, making every gathering both educational and enjoyable.
Joining the LJMU Korean Society opens the door to a rich and rewarding cultural experience. You’ll have the chance to boost your Korean language skills through our interactive Language Exchange program, which pairs learners and native speakers in a relaxed, conversational setting. Beyond language, you’ll build meaningful connections with fellow members who share your passion for Korea, creating a supportive and friendly community on campus. The society hosts a variety of fun and engaging activities — from movie screenings and game nights to traditional cultural celebrations and food tasting events — allowing you to immerse yourself in Korea’s vibrant heritage. Plus, if you love sports, our Korean football team is a great way to stay active and bond with others. Whether you want to learn, socialise, or just enjoy Korean culture in a welcoming space, the LJMU Korean Society is the place to be!
Each society is led by a student committee responsible for running the society, organising activities, and representing its members. The committee is chaired by the Society President, with support from other elected roles.
