The Irish Dance Society is a fun and energetic student group that celebrates the tradition and joy of Irish dancing. We welcome dancers of all abilities, from complete beginners to experienced performers, and provide a supportive space to learn, practice, and perform. Our society was created to share the beauty of Irish dance, bringing together students who want to stay active, connect with culture, and enjoy the rhythm of traditional and modern Irish music. We hold regular classes, rehearsals, and social events, while also performing at showcases, competitions, and cultural celebrations throughout the year. Whether you’re dancing for fitness, fun, or performance, you’ll find a welcoming community here. Membership is open to all students regardless of previous dance experience. We run weekly practices during term, supported by the Student Union and membership fees, and occasionally bring in professional instructors for workshops. Our society is democratic and committee-led, with clear communication through social media and union channels to keep members updated on classes, events, and performances. Joining the Irish Dance Society gives you the chance to stay active, learn a unique skill, and make lifelong friends in a lively and inclusive environment. You’ll build confidence, rhythm, and teamwork while celebrating a vibrant cultural tradition, with opportunities to perform both on campus and beyond. Whether you’re new to dance or a seasoned competitor, we have something for you. Each society is led by a student committee responsible for running the society, organising activities, and representing its members. The committee is chaired by the Society President, with support from other elected roles. President -
