The Human Resources Society is a professional and student-focused community for those interested in people management, workplace culture, and organisational development. Whether you’re studying HR, business, psychology, or simply curious about how workplaces function, our society offers valuable insight into the world of HR.
We aim to support students in understanding the strategic and human side of organisations through events, discussions, and practical learning. The society hosts workshops, guest speaker sessions with HR professionals, networking events, CV and interview skill sessions, and discussions on employment law, wellbeing, diversity and inclusion, and leadership. Our goal is to bridge academic learning with real-world HR practice in an engaging and accessible way.
Membership is open to all students, regardless of degree or career stage. We run regular events throughout the academic year with support from the Student Union and funding through membership fees and grants. Activities include professional development workshops, panel talks, employer networking sessions, and collaborative events with business-related societies. Updates and opportunities are shared through social media platforms and mailing lists.
Joining the HR Society gives you the opportunity to develop industry-relevant skills, gain insight into HR careers, and connect with professionals and like-minded students. Whether you’re aiming for a career in HR, people analytics, learning and development, or organisational psychology, the society provides a supportive space to grow your knowledge, confidence, and employability.
Each society is led by a student committee responsible for running the society, organising activities, and representing its members. The committee is chaired by the Society President, with support from other elected roles.
