About Our Group |
LJMU Women's Hockey is made up of three BUCS teams. The first team plays in Northern Tier 2, the second in Northern Tier 5 and the third in Northern Tier 5. Additionaly, we have social players who just want to get involved in a non-competitive aspect.
I've never played before, can I join?Yes! We welcome all abilities, whether you've played consistently since you were young or have never touched a hockey stick. We encourage everyone to participate no matter their ability so that we can see people grow and push each other.
What is hockey?Hockey is a stick and ball game, with 11 on each team. If you are new to the sport we will provide you with the necessary equipment (shin pads, hockey sticks, balls).
We do have taster/trial sessions to make the different squads, but the squads are flexible to give everyone a chance. We also have good coaches to push the teams to their fullest potential.

Why You Should Join Us? |
If you're looking for a social group you've certainly found it with hockey! All the girls are fun, welcoming and love both the sport and social side of society. Joining a society helps you gain a wider friendship group. We have socials every Wednesday, some weeks these are joint with other societies to further expand your social group. The themes chosen every week are hilarious and everyone loves to get involved.
In addition to the fitness and social aspects of the sport, hockey is a great way to develop necessary skills for use outside of sport. Examples of these include; leadership skills, teamwork, communication, and quick decision making.
We look forward to meeting you!
