Hiking is a refreshing and rewarding outdoor activity that combines physical movement with a deep connection to nature. Whether it’s a gentle woodland walk or a challenging mountain trail, hiking offers the chance to explore stunning landscapes, clear your mind, and build stamina at your own pace. It’s about the journey as much as the destination — and every hike is different.
Our Hiking Club is open to everyone — from casual walkers to seasoned adventurers. It’s a great way to stay active, discover new places, and enjoy the outdoors with a welcoming and like-minded group. We organise regular hikes, from local routes to national parks, and make the most of weekends and holidays for longer adventures. Plus, with plenty of social events and shared experiences, it’s more than just walking — it’s community, connection, and a breath of fresh air.

Welcome to the hiking club, a community for students who love to escape the hustle and bustle of city life and immerse themselves in the beauty of the countryside. Our club offers a variety of challenging and enjoyable walks across some of the most breathtaking landscapes in the British Isles. Whether you’re a complete beginner or an experienced hiker, there’s something here for everyone to enjoy and grow their passion for the outdoors.
We organise hiking trips twice a month on weekends, with longer expeditions available during the warmer months that often include overnight stays. Our adventures take place in easily accessible national parks such as the Peak District, Snowdonia, and the Lake District, allowing you to explore some of the UK’s most iconic natural scenery. In addition to outdoor hikes, we also run semi-regular events ranging from survival skills workshops to social gatherings, helping you build skills and connect with fellow members beyond the trails.
Joining the hiking club is a fantastic way to unwind from the pressures of university life and reconnect with nature in an open, welcoming environment. It’s also an excellent chance to make new friends and create unforgettable memories through shared adventures. If you’re looking to explore remarkable locations and experience the freedom of the outdoors, the hiking club is the perfect community for you to join.
Each sports club is led by a student committee responsible for running the club, organising activities, and representing members. The committee is chaired by the Club Captain, with support from other elected roles.
