The Filipino Cultural Society at Liverpool John Moores University is a welcoming space
designed to share the rich traditions, vibrant culture, and strong community spirit of the Philippines. Through a range of cultural and sporting events, we offer an authentic experience that connects members with Filipino roots and promotes cross-cultural friendship.
The Filipino Cultural Society at LJMU is more than just a student group—it’s a vibrant family that brings the warmth and color of Filipino culture to life on campus. We take pride in celebrating key Filipino holidays, customs, and traditions while fostering a sense of belonging and support among members. Our society hosts diverse events throughout the year, including cultural showcases, festive gatherings, and collaborative sports tournaments with the University of Liverpool FilSoc and other Filipino societies across the UK. Whether you’re passionate about sports, interested in learning about Filipino customs, or simply looking for a friendly community to call home, our society offers an inclusive space to explore and celebrate what makes Filipino culture so special. We believe in looking after one another and building connections that last far beyond university life.
Our events are typically held monthly, with dates, times, and locations announced regularly via our Instagram @ljmufilsoc. We encourage all new and returning students to stay connected and keep an eye on our social channels for updates, especially during fresher periods when we host special welcome activities tailored to newcomers. Our events range from festive cultural celebrations to competitive and friendly sports matches, offering a balance of fun, tradition, and community engagement.
Joining the Filipino Cultural Society means becoming part of a dynamic and supportive community that celebrates unity in diversity. It’s a place to immerse yourself in Filipino culture, make lifelong friendships, and participate in exciting activities that enrich your university experience. Whether you want to deepen your connection to your heritage, learn something new, or simply enjoy a vibrant social life, this society is your second home at LJMU. We’re dedicated to fostering personal growth, cultural pride, and memorable experiences that will stay with you well beyond your time at university.
Each society is led by a student committee responsible for running the society, organising activities, and representing its members. The committee is chaired by the Society President, with support from other elected roles.
