The Feminist Society is a vibrant, inclusive hub where students come together to explore, discuss, and take action on feminism and women’s rights. We’re all about empowering voices, building friendships, and creating positive change through engaging activities and meaningful dialogue.

About Us

The LJMU Feminist Society is an open, welcoming space committed to fostering awareness, education, and activism around feminist issues. Whether you’re passionate about gender equality or just beginning to explore feminist ideas, our society offers a supportive community where you can learn, grow, and make your voice heard. Each week, we hold lively meetings filled with discussions on current feminist topics, creative workshops, and collaborative projects that inspire and empower members. Beyond the weekly meetups, we organize a variety of events such as protests, charity fundraisers, and social gatherings — all designed to raise awareness and support important causes while building a strong network of like-minded individuals. Our society is driven by members’ ideas and enthusiasm, making it a dynamic and ever-evolving group that champions equality both on campus and beyond.

Key Information

Our meetings take place weekly, typically in the Student Life Building, with the exact day shared well in advance via our Instagram page @ljmu_femsoc. We keep members informed about upcoming socials, workshops, and larger events through regular updates on social media. Joining is completely free, and most of our activities and socials are offered at no cost, with occasional low fees for bigger events. Whether it’s a casual meetup, a book club, a self-defence class, or a collaborative campaign, you can expect a friendly, supportive atmosphere with plenty of opportunities to get involved and contribute your ideas.

Why Us?

If you care about feminism, social justice, and connecting with others who share your values, the Feminist Society is the perfect place for you. Here, you’ll find a passionate community eager to discuss important issues, support each other, and create meaningful change together. Past highlights include self-defence classes, charity fundraising, collaborative events with other societies, and exciting social nights. This academic year, we’re expanding our offerings with a monthly feminist book club and a run club, ensuring there’s something for everyone. We pride ourselves on being a members-first society, always welcoming fresh ideas and feedback to shape our future. Join us to make friends, learn, act, and help build a more equitable world — all while having fun along the way!

Committee

Each society is led by a student committee responsible for running the society, organising activities, and representing its members. The committee is chaired by the Society President, with support from other elected roles.
