The Far-East Asian Society at LJMU is a cultural and community hub for students interested in the vibrant traditions, modern lifestyles, and diverse cultures of Far-East Asian countries. It’s a space to connect, celebrate, and share experiences — whether you’re from the region, of Asian heritage, or simply curious to learn more.
Welcome to the Far-East Asian Society — a society built on community, culture, and connection. Our mission is to celebrate the rich heritage of Far-East Asia, spanning countries like China, Japan, Korea, Vietnam, Taiwan, and more. We aim to bring together Far-East Asian international students, British Asians, and anyone interested in the region’s culture under one welcoming, inclusive umbrella.
Whether you’re passionate about traditional festivals, modern pop culture, language exchange, or just want a place to feel at home while studying in Liverpool, this society is here for you. We host events that reflect the diversity of our members — from Lunar New Year celebrations and cultural showcases to casual food nights and karaoke socials.
Our goal is simple: to build a friendly, supportive environment where culture can be shared, friendships can be formed, and students can feel seen, valued, and connected.
We run a variety of events throughout the year — from themed socials and games nights to cultural experiences and collabs with other societies.
⏰ Meeting times vary based on the event, so keep an eye out on Instagram — there’s always something coming up!
Joining the Far-East Asian Society is about more than just events — it’s about belonging. Whether you’re looking to make new friends, explore shared heritage, or simply engage with fascinating cultures, this is the perfect space to do it.
You’ll get the chance to experience the beauty of Far-East Asia right here in Liverpool — from street food to traditional crafts, anime to K-pop, and everything in between. It’s a place where your identity is celebrated, and where cross-cultural friendships naturally grow.
So whether you're here to connect with your roots or expand your horizons — this society welcomes you with open arms.
Each society is led by a student committee responsible for running the society, organising activities, and representing its members. The committee is chaired by the Society President, with support from other elected roles.
