Equestrian is a dynamic and elegant sport that brings together skill, precision, and a deep connection between rider and horse. Whether it's show jumping, dressage, or eventing, each discipline tests your balance, control, and confidence in the saddle. It’s not just about riding — it’s about partnership, trust, and mastering technique.
Our Equestrian group is open to everyone, from seasoned riders to total beginners. We offer regular lessons, access to competitions, and plenty of social events for horse lovers of all levels. Whether you're chasing rosettes or just want to enjoy the ride, there’s a place for you here.
Saddle up and join us — it’s more than just a sport, it’s a passion.

The LJMU Equestrian Club is open to everyone—from complete beginners to experienced riders. Whether you’re passionate about horse riding, eager to compete, or just want to be part of a friendly and sociable community, we have something for you. Our club is a welcoming space where you can improve your riding, meet new people, and enjoy everything equestrian life has to offer.
We ride weekly at Bold Heath Equestrian Centre, where we use their fantastic facilities and horses for both lessons and team training. Riders who are part of our competitive teams will train and compete on Wednesdays, while non-competing members will have their lessons scheduled at a time to be confirmed. Weekly updates and schedules are shared with members in advance.
We cater to riders of all abilities, offering structured lessons whether you're learning the basics or refining your advanced skills. For those looking to compete, we have three teams that travel across the UK to take part in university competitions in dressage and show jumping. If competing isn’t your thing, no worries—our weekly lessons are a great way to enjoy time with the horses, improve your confidence, and take a break from the demands of uni life. On top of that, we run regular social events including nights out, parties, day trips to Aintree, and more. It’s a fantastic way to get involved, meet like-minded people, and become part of a fun, supportive club.
Each sports club is led by a student committee responsible for running the club, organising activities, and representing members. The committee is chaired by the Club Captain, with support from other elected roles.
