LJMU e-Racing is a dynamic student-led society that brings together a wide range of talents
and passions to design, build, and race a cutting-edge single-seat electric car. It’s more than just engineering — it’s a collaborative project that combines innovation, creativity, teamwork, and practical experience. Whether you’re into engineering, business, marketing, or project management, e-Racing offers a real-world opportunity to grow skills and build connections while being part of something exciting and unique.
The LJMU e-Racing Society is a vibrant community united by a shared goal: to design, construct, and compete with our very own single-seat electric race car. Our team is made up of students from all backgrounds and disciplines — from engineering to business, marketing, design, and beyond — working together to bring this ambitious project to life. Being part of the team means developing valuable hands-on experience in areas like technical design, budgeting, team collaboration, and time management, skills that will stand out on any CV. No prior engineering knowledge is required; if you bring enthusiasm, dedication, and a willingness to learn, you’ll find a place here. Over the academic year, we host regular workshops, training sessions, and social events to build both skills and team spirit, leading up to the thrilling UK Formula Student competition at Silverstone, where university teams from around the world showcase their innovations and race their cars.
Our team meets weekly at LJMU’s Byrom Street Campus, with specific meeting days and times communicated in advance to accommodate members’ schedules. These sessions are a mix of hands-on building, design work, strategy planning, and social bonding. Whether you want to get technical with the car’s components or contribute by managing the project’s logistics and outreach, you’ll find regular opportunities to engage and grow. Stay connected through our official communications channels for updates on meetings, events, and the racing calendar.
Joining the LJMU e-Racing Society is an incredible opportunity to be part of a forward-thinking, multidisciplinary team where you can gain practical skills, develop professional experience, and make lasting friendships. Beyond the thrill of working on an electric race car, you’ll learn teamwork, project management, and real-world problem-solving — all while having fun and making your mark in a high-profile competition like Formula Student at Silverstone. Whether you’re aiming to enhance your career prospects, explore new passions, or just want to be involved in something innovative and exciting, e-Racing welcomes you with open arms and plenty of opportunities to shine.
