About Our Group |
Cricket is a fast growing sport both across the university and nationally. Over the last few years, the LJMU CC membership has grown to in excess of 50 members for the upcoming season and we're pleased to be have a membership group from those participating in premier league standard cricket, all the way down to players who are completelty new to the game - whatever your interest/ability, there's a place in our club for you. |
Key Information |
Most people associate cricket as just a summer sport, however, with the majority of the academic year being during the cricket off-season, we pride ourselves on both our indoor and outdoor cricket reputation. Last year our 1st XI reached the last 16 nationally for indoor cricket, and in the outdoor game our 1st XI maintained position in the top divison within the north region. Whilst our 2nd XI gained promotion to division 3 which is something we look to build upon for the year ahead.
We train on Monday evenings (17:30pm till 19:30pm) and Friday evenings (19:00pm till 21:00pm) at the Student Life sports centre in town.
If you are considering joining, please make sure you try and bring your cricket kit with you when you move in to your accomodation in September (However if you don`t have kit, do not worry and still come along!). Our open training session for new members will be announced on our social media in mid September!
We have a LJMU Womens Cricket club which will continue throughout the 2024/25 academic year, please email ljmucricket@gmail.com or DM @ljmu_wcc on instagram for more information. All abilities welcome :) |
Why You Should Join Us? |
We’re a competitive group who are highly inclusive and welcome cricketers of all abilities. It's a great chance to make friends both on and off the pitch. We offer a standard of cricket for anyone, of any ability. Alongside being a really good bunch of blokes, and not bad at our sport either, we have a very active social side to the club. Each Wednesday we host a themed social in town, alongside plenty of weekend events + Wednesday day time activities. In addition we are very heavily involved with different charities such as Movember, RedforRuth and OpeningupCricket. We work closely alongside each of these to create emphaise the strong work they do for different people throughout the community.
