Cheerleading is an energetic and dynamic team sport that combines dance, gymnastics,
stunts, and cheer routines to pump up the crowd and showcase athletic skill. It’s all about precision, teamwork, and high-energy performances that require strength, flexibility, and creativity. Our LJMU Jets squad focuses on building routines that wow audiences while promoting school spirit and unity.
Whether you’re an experienced flyer, base, or completely new to cheer, the Jets welcome all skill levels. It’s a fantastic way to stay fit, develop coordination, and make lifelong friends in a fun, supportive atmosphere. We train regularly, compete in cheer competitions, and enjoy plenty of socials and team bonding off the mats too!
Join us and be part of a passionate community where every cheer counts.

LJMU Jets is the university’s long-standing Cheerleading Society, welcoming both experienced and new members. Our teams compete in national competitions, including the University National Championships, and perform at showcases such as the Star Spirit Cheer and Dance event. With four squads—a level 2 competitive team, a level 1 competitive team, a pom (dance) team, and a sideline non-competitive team—there’s a place for everyone, whether you want to compete or simply learn the basics and have fun.
Training takes place every Sunday at Star Spirit Cheer and Dance training facility, where we benefit from state-of-the-art equipment and expert coaching. Tumbling and stunting sessions are held on Wednesday afternoons, helping our team refine skills and progress further. The Pom Dance Team meets on Friday evenings for technique and choreography sessions, led by our dedicated pom coach.
This season is shaping up to be an exciting one, with new committee members bringing fresh ideas to the club. We welcome all abilities and foster an inclusive, supportive team environment. Beyond training, we hold weekly socials, including fundraising events and nights out, ensuring our squad stays connected off the mat. Whether you're looking to compete or just be part of a close-knit group, LJMU Jets offers a fun and rewarding experience!
