Whether you're diving into a biology degree or simply passionate about life sciences, our
society gives you the perfect space to connect, explore, and grow outside the lecture theatre. From academic support to social adventures, we help bring your university experience to life.
The Biology Society at LJMU is a student-led community for anyone studying or interested in biology and the life sciences. We’re here to make your university experience more engaging by offering opportunities to meet people beyond your course and connect over shared interests in a relaxed, welcoming environment. Whether you’re a first-year looking to find your feet, or a final-year student wanting to pass on tips and make lasting memories, the society is built to support you every step of the way. Our mission is simple: to help you feel a part of something bigger—while making friends, learning from others, and having fun along the way.
We host a variety of events throughout the academic year, designed to support your academic journey and enrich your social life. From themed nights out and classic pub crawls to revision sessions and educational museum trips, there’s something for everyone. We also support local charities through fundraising events and give every member a voice—if you’ve got an idea, we want to hear it! Our inclusive approach ensures the society evolves with its members, creating a space where everyone feels involved and valued.
Joining the Biology Society is completely free, easy, and incredibly rewarding. It's more than just a group—it's a gateway to building friendships, gaining course insight, and enjoying student life to the fullest. You’ll meet students from different year groups, helping you discover tips and advice about modules, careers, and university life in general. Plus, it’s the perfect excuse to unwind and enjoy a few great nights out with people who share your interests. With no cost and no pressure, there’s every reason to get involved.
Each society is led by a student committee responsible for running the society, organising activities, and representing its members. The committee is chaired by the Society President, with support from other elected roles.
