'According to research conducted by Deloitte, 82% of hiring managers are more likely to choose a candidate with volunteer experience, and 85% of those are willing to overlook other CV flaws when a candidate includes volunteer work'. We are celebrating Volunteers Weeek by highlighting all of our amazing student volunteers, staff volunteers and volunteering organisations that we have close partnerships with! Take a look at some of our amazing events between 12-16th February that you can get involved in, give back to a community you care about and boost your CV experience!

 

12th February - 'How to promote volunteering on my CV' - a workshop to best utilise volunteering for your CV, you can also get yourself a FREE headshot for your professional channels to help boost your career. You are welcome to join us at our CV Café for Volunteering Students on Monday 12th February between 1pm – 3pm at the Careers Zone in the Student Life Building.  This CV Café is ideal for short enquiries and advice to help you write about your volunteering experience and skills on your CV.  

13th February - Free talk and lunch -  Are you interested in a career in the Voluntary Sector? Are you currently volunteering or wish to volunteer to build your employability skills? Come and join us for lunch and talks from some inspirational professionals within the Voluntary/ Charity Sector.

14th February - Volunteering Fair - We are pleased to bring you JMSU Volunteering Fair 2024- our biggest yet! This years theme is 'love your community' in celebration of Valentine's day and we will have over 50 Voluntary Organsations promoting and recruiting for the volunteering roles. FREE deserts available for those attending the Fair!

15th February - Post Pals Letter Writing and crafts - One-off volunteering opportunity - Join us in the Breakout Space at Tithebarn to write letters and make cards for seriously ill children and their siblings aged 3-17. You can stay for as little or as long as you like between 2-4pm. You don't need to bring anything with you- we will provide everything you will need to make a card or write a letter to make a child smile!

23rd February - Period packing project one-off volunteering opportunity - help JMSU Feminist Society pack period products for Period Project Merseyside.
