Hi there! I am Rachel, team captain of LJMU Trampoline Club. As a club, we welcome people of any ability in trampolining, whether you are a competitive trampolinist, a semi-experienced gymnast, or someone trying it out for the first time. We train twice a week in the LJMU Sports Building on Copperas Hill to learn & develop new skills. As well as this, we prioristise socialising with the team, getting to know one another in order to prepare in building up routines to compete across the north of England, including a national competition at the end of the year. Our team is very flexible based on your preferences; we are built up of a team of both competing and non-competing members.

Last year we competed in the NEUT League. We travel to different universities across the North of England to compete in trampoline competitions. We compete against individuals who are equal to our ability, from beginner’s routines to extremely difficult routines. Last year, we had lots of success as a team - collecting 5 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze medals. We also compete in the Liverpool Varsity every year against the University of Liverpool, which can get very competitive! Finally, we also compete in the BUCS Trampolining Competition every year, which we were very successful in the 2022/23 season, collecting 1 gold and 1 silver out of the 5 of us that competed!

Our training sessions are run by our coach Frank, who is a highly experienced trampolinist and coach, who has done trampolining across the world. He can do some very difficult skills with lots of somersaults and twists (it blows our mind every time!). Frank is supported by other coaches within the team to make sure everyone is safe and receiving equal amounts of coaching time. With Frank’s experience and everyone else’s coaching experience, we can develop people’s skills throughout the year at their own pace, whilst still pushing them to improve.

Our team do socials every Wednesday, where we do either dry or drinking socials planned by our Social Secretary. Dry socials can include going to FlipOut and going to the Ninja Warrior course. Drinking socials usually include doing a theme to dress up as, and can range from dressing as your type, pub golf, I’m a Celeb, and back to school. We often do a pres at one of the team members flats, and then go to Quids In at Level Nightclub.

Finally, but most importantly, it is the committee’s upmost priority that everyone has fun and feels apart of the team. We are a great group to be apart of and we hope you’d like to be apart of our big family! We usually train every Friday 6-7.30pm and Saturday 2-4pm, however this may change in the new year. Check out our Instagram page for updates and please message us if you have any questions, or you can email us to find out more!
