Introducing your new Student Officer Team!

Back in March this year, a whopping 5302 of you elected this team to lead your Students' Union and represent you in full-time, year long positions.

Now that they have started and are getting stuck in to their roles, here's your chance to learn a bit about them, what they studied, what they loved about their time at LJMU and what their priorities are this year.

Your President – Angelina Cliff

Heeyy! I’m Angelina. My job is to oversee the Student Officer Team and be the key contact between the University and the SU. I’m also Chair of the Trustee Board and the lead delegate to represent LJMU at NUS National Conference.

Studied: BA Drama and Creative Writing
The best thing about LJMU for me: The societies I was involved in. The Comedy Society’s stand up nights were so much fun, and the International Society was brilliant for making friends from all around the world.
My priorities: Working on women’s liberation and gender equality, as well as tenancy rights, rent caps, and increasing awareness of university policies that affect LJMU students, especially ones around finances.

Your VP Activities – Fiona Brereton

Hi! I’m Fiona. I work closely with our sports clubs and societies help them develop and enhance their members' experiences.

Studied: Bsc Sport and Exercise Science
The best thing about LJMU for me:  The helpful and engaging staff. I always felt as though I could approach staff members if I was unsure about any work/deadlines that I had. It made my approach to assignments and studying in general a lot less daunting. My advice would be to always ask for help!
My priorities: Providing support to all of our amazing groups, promoting them to students, enhancing communication between clubs and societies and reviewing student group funding.

Your VP Community Engagement – Howisha Charlery

Hey! I’m here to ensure that all LJMU students are happy, their health and wellbeing is looked after and feel safe within their university community.

Studied: BSc Sport & Exercise Science
The best thing about LJMU for me: Being a part of the Women’s Rugby Union, because it gave me the opportunity to meet like-minded individuals with similar interest and that’s where I met some of my closest friends
J
My priorities: Focusing on student mental health, celebrating diversity and pushing for more vegan, vegetarian and halal food options on campus.

Your VP Academic Quality – Julia Daer

Ciao! I’m Julia. My role revolves around ensuring you get the best out of your degree by improving teaching, learning and resources at LJMU. I attend meetings with the university to ensure they know what you need from your education.

Studied: I studied BA Marketing, including the optional placement year. I highly advise students who are offered this opportunity as part of their course to take it!
The best thing about LJMU for me:  My favourite thing by far was the International Society. Clubs and Societies are great for meeting people and helped me to make friends from all over the world!
My priorities:  Supporting your personal and professional development at LJMU by promoting optional languages courses, increasing the number of placements across courses and offering more support throughout your journey as a student.

We can't wait to see you in September!
