Leaving your accommodation this summer? Leave Liverpool Tidy!

Tuesday 13-05-2025 - 09:54

The time has come to start clearing out your house, halls or room and get ready for your next step – whether you're moving down the road or taking the leap to a new adventure. We're here to help make your clear-out a little easier – and more sustainable!

We've teamed up with Liverpool Guild of Students, British Heart Foundation and Fareshare, to provide donation points and initiatives for you to transform your trash into someone else's treasure.

The way it works is simple - gather all the stuff that you do not wish to move to your new place (such as clothes, kitchen equipment, home decorations or tinned food), and bring it to one of our drop-off points to be collected and repurposed.

📣 On 27th and 30th June, you can donate unwanted items at our dedicated drop-off points at ASDA Smithdown and Kensington Fields Community Centre. Our volunteers will also be doing door-to-door collections on both days.

What can I donate? 🤔

Items we’ll be collecting include:

  • Household items i.e. pots, plates, cutlery etc
  • Small electrical items (working order)
  • Clothing, shoes and accessories (in good condition)
  • Books and textbooks
  • Non-perishable food items (unopened dried foods, tins and jars still in date)
  • Small items of furniture will only be accepted at the Smithdown drop-off location.

🚫 Please note: we’re not able to accept any duvets, pillows, knives, or broken/dirty items, so please make other arrangements for these.

When and where can I donate? 📅

We held a Leave Liverpool Tidy Day of Action on 22nd May – but don’t worry if you missed it!

You can still donate on 27th and 30th June:

Drop-off Locations (10am–3pm both days):

  • ASDA Smithdown
  • Kensington Fields Community Centre

📦 Live in Smithdown or Kensington?
Our volunteers will be doing door-to-door collections in both areas on those dates. Arrange your collection by emailing lgsustainability@liverpool.ac.uk with your address and a contact number by 12pm on 25th June.

How do I donate? 📦

Just turn up to one of the drop off locations on 27th or 30th June. Make sure that you arrive during the times listed above.

Please make sure that you follow the instructions and rules for donating items, as if your items do not meet the LLT criteria, then you will need to take them away with you.

✅ Make sure your donations are:

  • Clean
  • In working condition
  • Clearly labelled (if leaving them for collection)

🪑 Furniture donations:
Only small items (e.g. chairs, side tables) will be accepted at Smithdown.
Please don’t bring large furniture like sofas, mattresses or dining tables.
