St Joseph's Hospice opened its doors in Thornton, Merseyside, in 1974 and has held a special place in the heart of our community ever since.
Today, the hospice offers high-quality, professional nursing care within a peaceful, home from home environment surrounded by 12 acres of beautiful woodland gardens.
We care for around 200 patients, and their families, every year from across a diverse geographical area, which includes Sefton, Liverpool and West Lancashire.
The feeling of knowing that you are helping other is incredibly fulfilling. Volunteering at one of our charity shops will provide a sense of purpose and satisfaction that is truly unmatched!
Join our team of volunteers in one of the following locations throughout the city - Aigburth, Allerton, Breck Road, County Road, Crosby, Formby, Kensington, Maghull, Netherton or Walton Vale.
Main tasks could include:
- Assisting customers with their purchase,
- Sorting, Organising and Pricing
- Creating window displays
We understand that everyone has different commitments and responsibilities. That is why we offer flexible volunteer shifts, allowing you to choose the hours that suit your availability. Whether you prefer mornings, afternoons, or weekends, we can accommodate your needs.

No previous experience is required to volunteer in our charity shops. All we ask for is your enthusiasm, dedication, and a willingness to make a positive impact!
