Circles of Support and Accountability - Supporting people with Convictions back into the community

Details Hide[-]

Nepacs now has some brand new, exciting volunteering opportunities available across both the North East & North West regions, which we'd like to share.

Across the North we are launching an inspiring service, CIRCLES – Circles of Support and Accountability.  Already successfully established elsewhere in the country, CIRCLES is a ground-breaking programme which provides support to people who have caused sexual harm in the past. Its aim: to support individuals in their pathways to rehabilitation to ensure there are No More Victims

Each ‘CIRCLE’ brings together 4-6 volunteers from the local community to support the individual, known as the 'Core Member'. They meet weekly, in community locations, providing space for discussion in order to reduce isolation, provide support and guidance, and focus on rehabilitation and resettlement into the wider community.

Each CIRCLE is unique, being designed around the needs of each individual Core Member.  It is a strengths-based approach, focusing on the resources and networks available to a person, and helping further build on those 'assets'.

The CIRCLES are not delivered in isolation. We will be working in close partnership with the police, probation, local multi public protection teams, and other professionals working in this field.

So what are we looking for?

We are reaching out to people who want to give that extra boost to people who genuinely want to turn their lives around. We're looking for great listeners - people who are non-judgemental and who possess the commitment and range of skills required to work together with other like-minded volunteers in a CIRCLE throughout its duration; a CIRCLE usually lasts 12 months and meets weekly, but naturally there will be some flexibility during period, taking into consideration your own personal lives.

In return, we will help you to develop your skills and knowledge and insight into the Criminal Justice System. You will benefit from full training to deliver CIRCLES, along with ongoing support and supervision.

We are hoping to begin taking new referrals soon and so we're already looking for people who have a particular interest in this vital area of work.  Whether you wish to give something back or gain valuable experience to add to your CV, and you'd like to find out more, then we would really love to hear from you.

Thank you!
