Make an Impact Beyond the Game.

Is your LJMU sports team driving positive change for the planet or your community? The Sustainability Impact Award shines a spotlight on clubs leading the way in environmental and social action — from greener travel choices to creative campaigns and lasting legacies. It’s a chance to build pride, inspire others, and show how sport can power real change. Here’s how you can get involved.

1. Plan your action

Choose initiatives that suit your team and align with your goals.

2. Do a risk assessment

Complete your risk assessment and make sure to submit it before your activity begins.

3. Collect your evidence

Gather photos, ticket confirmations, social media posts, and any other evidence of your activity.

4. Submit via Microsoft Form

Share what you did and the impact you made by submitting your entry.

The top scoring team wins the newly introduced Sustainability Impact Award at Sports Awards 2026 (venue TBC), with a Special Recognition Award for the most inspiring action.

Ways to Get Involved

Your initiatives can be big or small — every action counts. Here are some examples:

Travel sustainably to competitions
Buy second-hand or eco-friendly kit
Go plastic-free at matches
Run a community campaign or collaborate with another team
Volunteer with local groups
Help on campus biodiversity projects
Appoint a Sustainability Officer or set long-term eco goals

Who Will Be Judging the Awards?

A panel of LJMU staff, JMSU representatives, students, and SU Officers will score clubs based on the award criteria. In the event of a tie, the SU President will decide the winner.

How Do I Submit My Evidence?

You can fill in our submission form by clicking the button below. Here you’ll let us know which team you’re representing, what amazing work you’ve done, and what the impact is. You can also upload up to 10 supporting documents — including photos, documents, PDFs, audio, or video files. If you need to submit more than 10 documents, simply submit another form and we’ll collate them together.

Please note: When submitting photographs, please ensure you have permission from anyone captured, and do not include anyone under the age of 18.
