Three individuals stand close together in a warm group hug. The person in the centre wears a bright blue dress with a lace‑up back, while the two on either side wear white shirts and hold triangular glass awards reading “JMSU Belonging Award.” The moment captures a celebratory, emotional atmosphere.

Event Basics

What is JMSU Sports Ball?
Sports Ball is our opportunity to celebrate and recognise our student athletes and sports clubs’ successes. You work hard to get results both on and off the pitch, so we want to share what you’ve been up to and honour all your hard work. From winning leagues and bringing home trophies to raising money and awareness, you’ve been amazing!

Who can attend Sports Ball?
Anyone who is a current, fully paid-up member of a JMSU sports club will be eligible to purchase a ticket.

Is the event formal/black-tie?
Yes – the dress code is black tie, so wear your best!

Tickets

How do I purchase Sports Ball tickets?
Nominated committee members have been emailed a private link for their reserved tickets. Please buy tickets through this link if you’ve been put forward by your club committee. Please do not share this link, as tickets under names not on the list will be refunded.

What is included in the ticket price?
Each ticket includes transport from SLB to Anfield, entry into Sports Ball, a welcome drink and food. Main Room tickets include a two-course sit-down meal, while Kop Side tickets include street food options. After the awards there will be a dancefloor and DJ, and at the end of the night coaches will bring students back to SLB.

What is the ticket exchange policy?
To sell your ticket to someone else, just email the relevant email address with the following information:

  • Your name
  • Your ticket number
  • Your ticket type
  • Your group/club

Logistics

What is the schedule for the night?
Clubs will be told a time slot to arrive at SLB so they can get the coach to Anfield. Coaches will be on a strict schedule, so please arrive slightly early so you have time to collect your wristband and get on the coach.

Your wristband will be available in SLB. We will check your name, student ID and ticket type, and then issue your wristband. Once you’re on the coach, we’ll take you to Anfield.

At Anfield you’ll get a welcome drink and have the opportunity to mingle with your club and other sports. There will also be some opportunities to take photos in the stands.

Once everyone has arrived and is settled, we’ll call the Main Room guests in to be seated for dinner. The street food will be served Kop Side and bars will remain open throughout. Once everyone has eaten, the awards will begin. These will be streamed for members in the Kop Side so everyone can cheer on the winners.

After the awards, we’ll wrap up and everyone will congregate on the Kop Side for a DJ and dancefloor.

Once the lights come on, we’ll make sure everyone gets on a coach back to SLB where you’re free to head home or head into town.

Is there seating arranged by team?
Yes – there will be a seating plan. We will aim to sit clubs together where possible. If you swap or exchange a ticket too close to the event, we may be unable to seat you with your club. We will let you know if this is the case.

What is the venue’s dress code?
This is a black tie event, so please dress formally.

Is there a professional photographer?
Yes! We will have a photographer taking photos and videos of the evening. If you don’t want to be in photos or videos, please let a member of staff know on the evening of the event.

Is it a sit-down meal?
