The Gaming Society at Liverpool John Moores University is your ultimate hub for all things gaming—from casual fun to high-stakes competition. We unite players across all skill levels and interests, fostering a vibrant community where everyone can share their love for gaming, improve their skills, and make lasting friendships.
Whether you’re a seasoned esports competitor or just curious about gaming, our society welcomes you with open arms. We cater to a wide range of gaming interests, offering opportunities to play casually or competitively across popular titles such as League of Legends, CS:GO, Rocket League, Overwatch 2, Valorant, and Rainbow Six. Players can join teams that match their skill level, allowing for personal growth and development at a comfortable pace. Beyond competitive play, we emphasize social gaming experiences where members can unwind and connect through group party games like Just Dance, Jackbox, and Mario Kart tournaments. Our inclusive environment encourages new members to jump in and discover new games, make friends, and find their place in the gaming world. Leadership roles, including team captains, are also available for those looking to take an active role in the society’s competitive side.
The society’s primary communication channel is our active Discord server, where members organize matches, share news, and build friendships. We hold weekly socials every Wednesday, typically hosted in the Student Life Building, providing a relaxed space for casual play and friendly competition. Throughout the year, we run both casual and competitive gaming tournaments catering to different interests and skill levels. Additionally, members get to enjoy watch parties for major gaming events such as Nintendo Directs and The Game Awards, creating opportunities to celebrate the gaming culture together. Our calendar also includes fun outings like bowling and arcade trips, and special collaborative events, such as girls’ nights, where we team up with other hobby societies to mix gaming with arts, crafts, and more.
If you’ve ever wished there was a local place to find teammates for your favourite games or to explore new titles with friends, the Gaming Society is your go-to community. We attract gamers who want to compete at a serious level, those who prefer laid-back gaming sessions, and everyone in between. Joining gives you access to a supportive network that understands your passion, whether you want to lead a team, participate in tournaments, or just relax and play some casual party games. We pride ourselves on being inclusive and accessible—whether you’re brand new to gaming or an esports veteran, there’s a place for you here. Beyond gaming, our events foster camaraderie and social connections, making it easy to meet new people and feel part of something bigger. If you want to get involved in a thriving, dynamic society where your gaming interests and social life can grow hand in hand, this is the community for you.
Each society is led by a student committee responsible for running the society, organising activities, and representing its members. The committee is chaired by the Society President, with support from other elected roles.
