Archery is a precision sport that’s all about focus, control, and consistency. Using bows to shoot arrows at a target, the goal is simple: hit the centre. But mastering the skill takes patience, practice, and a steady hand. Whether you’re shooting indoors or outdoors, archery offers a calm yet challenging way to test both body and mind.
Our Archery group welcomes everyone — from complete beginners to experienced archers. You’ll learn the basics, improve your technique, and take part in friendly competitions throughout the year. It’s a great way to relax, improve concentration, and be part of a supportive, like-minded community.
Come give it a shot — you might just find your new passion.
LJMU Archery is a welcoming and inclusive club, perfect for beginners and experienced archers alike. Our friendly atmosphere makes it easy to connect with others, whether you're here for fun or aiming to compete.
We are running a free taster session on 23rd September from 10:00-12:00 at LJMU Sports Centre—just turn up and give it a try! Regular training sessions take place on Saturdays from 9:00-10:30 in the LJMU Sports Hall, with all equipment provided. We also support the ‘Play Sport’ archery sessions immediately after, from 10:30-11:30. Our club is fully insured, and trained instructors oversee all sessions to ensure safety.
Archery is a fantastic way to build strength, coordination, and focus while relieving stress and staying calm under pressure—all while looking effortlessly cool. Our club also hosts alcohol-free socials, including quiz nights and indoor rock climbing, so there’s something for everyone. Whether you're here to hone your skills or just have fun, we’d love to have you join us!
Each sports club is led by a student committee responsible for running the club, organising activities, and representing members. The committee is chaired by the Club Captain, with support from other elected roles.
