Widnes Vikings Wheelchair Rugby League session

JMSU have partnered with Widnes Vikings wheelchair rugby league club to provide an intro to wheelchair rugby league session.

Wheelchair rugby league is a full-contact, adaptive version of rugby league that's open to people of all abilities, including those with physical disabilities:

• Features

Players use specialized wheelchairs and compete in teams of five on indoor courts. The game combines elements of rugby league and wheelchair basketball, and includes strategic play, physical contact, and high-intensity action.

• Rules

The goal is to score tries, and conversions are scored by kicking the ball over mini-posts. Tackles are made by pulling off an attached tag, and the maximum number of tackles is six.

• Inclusivity

Wheelchair rugby league is unique in that people without disabilities are allowed to compete in top-level competition, and men and women of any age can play against each other.

The session will take palce in the LJMU sport bulding, 1-4pm. Please arrive for 1pm to be fitted to a wheelchair. JMSU x Widnes Vikings will provide all equipment needed.
