Welcome! Welcome back!
For those who are new on the scene or are back for another year of LJMU fun, we wanted to introduce ourselves. We're Liverpool John Moores Students' Union, or JMSU for short. We are here to guide you through your university journey; providing opportunities you never knew existed, assist you and support you as you study, and help you make the most out of your university experience!
Freshers and induction for all LJMU students
We run the Freshers schedule during September (you're welcome) which is designed to help you find your feet and meet new people in safe and fun environments. From arts and crafts workshops to sports sessions, trips out into the city to find some student hot spot bars, or travelling further a far to have once in a lifetime experiences (did someone say alpaca trekking?) we have it all. Make sure you check out our Freshers events, including our ever-anticipated Freshers Fair, and book your tickets in September. We will be offering lots of merchandise and freebies to help get you excited for what’s to come, and make you feel at home here at JMSU. Not only do we plan a schedule for Freshers, but we have year-round activity for students to get involved in.
Having fun and making friends
We are a student-led organisation that represents the student voice at John Moores University. We make sure students are at the heart of everything we do. This is why we provide groups such as sports teams, societies, and community groups for students to pursue a hobby, find likeminded students and make friends for life (outside of your course).
Opportunities
Not only do we provide fun, exciting events to help you make friends – we also want to make sure you get work and voluntary opportunities to help boost your CV. From volunteering opportunities within a community of your choice or becoming a paid student representative, we have lots of opportunities for you to take advantage of.
Democracy and student voice
As we mentioned, we are student-led. This means that we have a team of full-time members of staff that work alongside four Student Officers, who lead JMSU. Student Officers are elected each year by the student body, then campaign for things that matter most to their peers for the next academic year. Get to know your Student Officers Brenin, Lottie, Seren and Alexandria today.
Advice and support
We are a separate, charitable organisation to the university; this means we can give impartial and confidential academic advice to all students at LJMU. You can come to us at any time for support. You are never alone – we are here to help.
That’s all from us for now, make sure you have a good look at our website and all we have to offer, and make sure you follow us on social media to keep up to date with us. See you in September besties!
