Here's how you can get involved with JMSU
Term two started with a bang with our Refreshers week, we couldn't have had a better start to 2023. We saw lots of you come back onto campus after Winter Break fresh-faced and ready to go - and to celebrate your return, we hosted a week-load of events to 'refresh' your memory about JMSU, who we are, and what we offer.
What is JMSU?
JMSU (or John Moores Students’ Union) is your helpful, advisory pal at University to help with all things studying, opportunities and support. We are a democratic charity that acts on behalf of all students at LJMU, bridging the gap between students and the university. This means we can offer confidential advice and support to students at any point during their studies.
We’re also here to brighten up your day-to-day life by offering a wide range of events and activities throughout the year; festivals, street food parties, painting and crafting workshops, yoga classes, pub quizzes and many more. We also host awards and celebration ceremonies to throughout the year to commemorate student success. All in all, we're here to provide the ultimate fun factor alongside your studies. Opportunities
We are home to over 100 sport, society, and community student-led groups (football, karate, feminist and music to name a few!) to help you find friends for life, learn new skills and explore exciting hobbies. Not to mention our wide range of volunteering and job opportunities that are perfect additions to your CV.

'Student Officers' are full time job roles within the JMSU organisation with an excellent salary; elected by students, they are the authentic student voice of JMSU to represent over 27,000 LJMU students. Student Officers campaign and champion for their fellow students. They are active participants in organising and leading our amazing events and activities schedule throughout the year, and work closely with LJMU services to make sure they have the students best interests at heart.
