About Us

This is a safe and non-judgmental community of people who may have experienced mental, physical or sexual trauma. We also welcome others to come along to support a friend or to educate themselves.
With weekly socials, we hope to build a sense of community and provide people with ongoing consistent support. We are aiming to hold monthly meetings as well, providing a place for students to listen, receive guidance/support, socialise, and have the opportunity to open up about their experiences to others. At these meetings you are not required to discuss personal issues if you do not wish to, however the option is there for those that would like. These will include things like, guest speakers, cafe socials, workshops, walks, quizzes, movie nights, crazy golf, and much more!
Our membership is free and we welcome everyone regardless of age, gender, race etc. Our main source of communication is our Instagram account @ljmusurvivors where we post regular updates and information regarding the society and events. We also have a WhatsApp group chat for members, which is available to access by getting in touch with uson our instagram. We hope to see you very soon!

Key Information (When, Where, and How Often We Meet)

We aim to meet multiple times a month for varying activities, including socials and our other meetings. We host support groups in either the SLB or Aldham Robarts library once a month and host many other socials at various venues across Liverpool, depending on the event.

Our Instagram page (@ljmusurvivors) will be filled with updates, regarding the dates, times, and locations for meetings and socials.

Why Should You Join Us?

This is a student-run society that provides an alternative to the traditional support systems already in place at the university (counselling etc). We are aware that opening up to authority figures can be challenging and reporting incidents can seem confusing/isolating.
By bringing people with shared experiences together, we hope to create an atmosphere of stability and ensure students have the advice they need to access the right support, whether choosing to report or not.
You can choose to attend meetings just to listen, learn or support a friend - you are not required to share any personal information about yourself if you do not wish to. We are inclusive and tailor to each person's needs, please don't hesitate to get in touch with one of our committee members if there is anything at all we can do - we are more than happy to help!
