The LJMU Anime Society is a welcoming space where anime fans of all levels — from

seasoned otaku to total beginners — come together to celebrate the world of Japanese animation. It's not just about watching shows; it's about building a vibrant community of people who share a passion for storytelling, art, and creativity. Whether you're here for the plot, the fights, the aesthetics, or just the memes — there’s a space for you.

About Us

Our core goal is to explore the wide and wonderful world of anime — from iconic classics to hidden gems, and from intense action to heartfelt slice-of-life. Every week, we dive into a diverse selection of anime and engage in open, lively discussions that let you share your thoughts, make new friends, and find your next favorite show.

Each screening night features three first episodes — two handpicked by our screening officers, and one chosen by you, the members, via vote. Weekly themes like ‘Mecha Madness’, ‘90s Nostalgia’, ‘Spooky Season’, and ‘Underrated Gems’ keep things fresh, fun, and genre-spanning. We often pair our themes with creative activities such as trivia quizzes, create-your-own-anime challenges, or character-guessing games — and you’re always encouraged to get involved, no matter your level of anime knowledge.

But we’re more than just a watch club. We host regular socials, including cinema trips, karaoke nights, cosplay contests, game nights, and even city trips — sometimes on our own, sometimes in collaboration with other societies. Whether you’re into Studio Ghibli or shonen battles, you’ll find people here who just get it.

Key Information

We meet every Thursday, from 6PM–8PM, in Room 302 of the Student Life Building.

Our events are open to everyone, so whether you're turning up solo or with friends, you'll be greeted with a warm welcome and a chilled atmosphere.

Why Us?

Because anime is better with friends. The Anime Society is a relaxed, friendly place to connect with people who share your interests, try out new genres, and discover stories you might not have watched on your own. Whether you're here for the community, the watch parties, the memes, or the socials — there's something for everyone.

It's not about how much you’ve seen; it’s about sharing the experience together.

Committee

Each society is led by a student committee responsible for running the society, organising activities, and representing its members. The committee is chaired by the Society President, with support from other elected roles.
