Join the Dj Society!
The DJ society are among the many new LJMU clubs and societies this year. The DJ society in particular have come a long way since September. It was created by students who have an interest in music and want the opportunity to learn how to DJ, build on their skills and perform.
They started off performing in local underground music venues such as the Shipping Forecast until LiverpoolSU set them up with regular gigs at the East Village Arts Club which is one of Liverpool's famous venue's for Deep House. Jessie Beaumont the President of the society explained that, 'trying to find the right place has been hard as industry standard equipment is a requirement to run our sessions'. Its clear that a lot of organisation and hard work goes into the DJ society. However it is has all paid off , after several meetings with venues and the University, Jessie goes on to say that, 'we were delighted to announce that we could provide our teaching sessions/socials/events at the venue'.
Josh McDowell, Liverpool SU's Vice President Activities added that, 'this is a fantastic opportunity for a new society and it shows there's many opportunities open to students'. He goes on to say that, 'This opportunity was established from communication and asking questions. It was fantastic to meet Victoria the General Manager at EVAC. She has opened the doors of EVAC for students to use and this will be so successful for this year and clubs and societies. It's great that Jessie and the DJ Society now have a Venue, and not just any venue, but East Village Arts Club'.
